About you, and your business background |
I had the privilege of working for a children’s charity for 24 years as the Regional Manager. For a variety of reasons I left this role in February 2019, predominantly to support my adult daughter who has complex health conditions. However, after a few months I missed what I used to do, so with the help of friends, family and supporters we set up a voluntary group to make a difference to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. This has since grown and is a registered charity, no. 1186308. We work on minimal overheads so that the children in our area who can suffer from a variety of life-long conditions are able to experience things they wouldn’t.
My previous experience was in sales of plastic widgets for supermarkets before I became Marketing Manager for them. I have also been cabin crew, sold newspapers to clothing to carpets, and wasn’t too proud to lay out fish on the North Wall for freezing one winter when I needed to!
I truly love what I do now and the difference it makes. I was chosen to pass the Olympic Torch to my daughter in Grimsby (who was also a torchbearer), and have won both Mayoral awards and the 2022 Business Hive Great Grimsby Award, although my caring duties prevented me from receiving it on the night.
